Non-Profit Donations

I saw that 10% of proceeds from the Smith Island, Spoken book are donated to non-profits on Smith Island.  What non-profits are they?

10% of proceeds from the book are donated to two non-profits on Smith Island (5% to each): the Smith Island Cultural Center & Museum (Crisfield and Smith Island Cultural Alliance, Inc.) and Smith Island United.  The Smith Island Cultural Center focuses on educating others about and preserving the history of the island, and Smith Island United focuses on preserving the culture and environment of the island.  To learn more about these organizations, you can visit their websites linked below.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All of our transactions take place at checkout via PayPal.  You can log in to your PayPal account to pay with one of your cards or accounts on file, or you can check out as a guest with PayPal and simply enter your card information.  You do not have to have a PayPal account to make purchases on this site.  PayPal accepts a number of different cards and currencies.


How long is your handling time?

Our handling time ranges from 1 - 3 days.


How much does domestic shipping cost?

For domestic purchases, shipping cost varies depending upon the product(s) purchased.  For singular items, shipping costs are as follows:

Postcards: $2

Books: $4

All Other Items: $8.55 or $15.50, depending upon their size.

If you purchase more than one item, the shipping price of the item that is most expensive to ship will be applied to the whole order.  For example, if you purchase a postcard, a book, and a shirt, the shirt would be the most expensive to ship ($8.55) and the shipping price for your entire order would be $8.55. 


What shipping service do you use?

All of our products are shipped via USPS.  The specific USPS service we use varies depending on the product(s) purchased.  If you order just a book, it will be shipped via Media Mail.  If you order just a postcard, it will be shipped via First Class Mail.  If you order any other items or combination of items, they will be shipped via Priority Mail.


Do you provide tracking numbers for purchases?

Yes, all purchases receive tracking numbers.  You will receive an email with your tracking number once your order has shipped.


I need my items shipped in a hurry.  Can you ship them with an overnight service?

Yes, we can ship items via USPS Priority Mail Express, which are typically delivered overnight to 2 days after they are dropped off at the post office.  We can also decrease our handling time to the same day or the next day after we receive your order.  Our website currently does not offer an overnight shipping option for our products, so if you need items quickly, please email us as soon as possible.  We check our email often.


Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, all domestic orders valued at $75 or more receive free shipping.


Do you offer international shipping?

Yes, we do ship internationally with USPS.


What international shipping services do you offer?

We ship via USPS First Class Package International (if your order is under 13 ounces), Priority Mail International, and Priority Mail Express International.  You can select your desired international shipping method at checkout.


How much does international shipping cost?

The price of international shipping is calculated for you at checkout in real time depending upon the service you select, the weight of your order, and your location.


Do you accept returns?

We accept returns within seven days of purchase.  Items must be returned in the condition they were bought.  To initiate a return, please email  A refund will be issued once we receive your items.  We cannot cover the postage cost for returns at this time.

I work for a bookstore/retail store.  How can I sell your products in my store?

To sell our products in your store, please email us at  We offer special pricing for bookstores and other retailers and would love to work with you!  In keeping with our commitment to give to non-profits on Smith Island, 10% of your specially priced orders of Smith Island, Spoken books will be donated to the Smith Island Cultural Center & Museum and Smith Island United.
